When people meet me for the first time and ask me what I do for a living, most of the time they don’t expect “I’m a medium” for an answer. But as soon as they get over the first feeling of surprise, most people tell me about their own “strange” experiences or about their deceased loved ones. Or they begin asking a lot of questions. The most frequently asked questions are listed here.
What does a medium actually do?
As a medium, you connect either with the client’s energy field or with the spirit world and make contact with deceased loved ones or spirit guides who know the client very well.
In the first case, it is a kind of “aura reading”, also called “psychic reading”, in which I feel my way into your energy field. I can feel which blockages are particularly troublesome at the moment and what their origin is. Of course, it is not only about determining exactly where a certain behaviour or stressful emotion comes from, but to let it go.
In the second case, during the communication with the spirit world, I “translate” the messages from someone in spirit. That can be deceased loved ones, but also spirit guides. When establishing such a communication, an evidential approach is important. That means, the medium must be able to describe the communicator so precisely, that it is clear who it is. This is also called “evidential mediumship”. The description should be specific enough, so the client can recognize the communicator.
Why do people visit a medium?
Most people, who come to me, simply want to solve a stressful problem: stress in a relationship, professional difficulties, difficult emotions such as fear, anger or sadness, for example. The primary goal is to “crack” the source of the old patterns. Many people visit me because of persistent physical symptoms (of course after medical clarification), because they want to look at the energetic side of the problem. When we know where something originates from, it is much easier to deal with it.
Other people come mainly because they wish to contact someone in the spirit world. They want to know if their deceased loved ones are well, sometimes they wish for some kind of closure in the grieving process.
And others come to me to build a better connection with their own spirit team. We all have helpers in the spirit world, even if not everybody believes that! It can be very empowering to get to know our spirit guides better đ
Does everybody have mediumistic abilities?
Not everyone can do that, of course, but anyone could learn this.
It’s like building a table! In principle, each of us could build a table. But some tables will be more beautiful and stable, depending on your talent, education and experience. And the more you do something, the more you practice, the more you love doing it – the better you become at it. Simple!
As with all other professions, there are simply people who have a certain talent for it. Just as there are people who are skilled with their hands and others who are good with numbers. So for my tax consultant, my work is an unfathomable mystery, just as my tax consultant’s work is for me đ .
It is basically a kind of spiritual craft, but one must approach it very responsibly and sensitively. What most people underestimate is how much commitment and discipline (I don’t like this word much either) it takes to do this professionally.
But this is against science, isnÂŽt it?
No, it’s just that this kind of research is rarely advertised. The reason for that is a longer story…but here are some exciting books, articles and also videos on the subject:
Dr. Gary Schwartz, The Afterlife Experiments: Breakthrough Scientific Evidence of Life After Death, 2002.
Dr. Oliver Lazar, Jenseits von Materie: Bewegende Erfahrungen eines Wissenschaftlers mit der geistigen Welt und seine Jenseitsforschung, 2022.
Here are some interesting studies about mediumship:

Isn't that kind of dangerous?
No, if you know what you are doing and act professionally. Mediumship is a very powerful and efficient tool and as it is with all tools, you should not play around with it, but use it skillfully.
Everything that you send out comes back to you. This especially applies to energy work and mediumship, therefore the intention of the contact is of great importance. Doing this just for fun or curiosity, will just result with something that resonates with these intentions. Doing it out of love and respect in order to help is something completely different. You canÂŽt fool the spirit world, it will know exactly why you are contacting them.
Due to distorted portrayals of spiritualism and mediumship in many books and movies, there are many misconceptions and unnecessary fear. But as with many other topics: the more you know about it and its mechanics, if it becomes understandable and you realize, that there is nothing to worry about.
